2010

Foundation Established

CKSI was founded and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission to create awareness on sickle cell disorder and fill the gap in knowledge on treatment and care. Initial services included advocacy for better treatment, genotype testing in rural and urban areas, collaboration with other NGOs, and supporting hospitals with medications.

2020

Community Advocacy Expansion

Intensified advocacy efforts in communities focusing on treatment and care for persons living with sickle cell disorder. Celebrated the first World Sickle Cell Day, raising awareness and educating communities about the condition.

2021

Youth Counseling Initiative

Launched comprehensive information and counseling programs for youths on genotype compatibility to prevent sickle cell disorder. Expanded support for persons with sickle cell disorder in procuring medications and celebrated International Day of Sickle Cell.

2022

Genetic Counseling Services

Introduced professional genetic counseling services for youths focusing on genotype compatibility education. Continued annual celebration of International Day of Sickle Cell to raise global awareness.

2023

Program Consolidation

Consolidated and strengthened existing programs while expanding reach to more communities across Nigeria. Enhanced partnerships with healthcare facilities and other organizations working on sickle cell interventions.

2024

Digital Innovation

Continued program expansion and improved service delivery methods. Prepared for digital transformation to reach wider populations across Nigeria with sickle cell education and support services.

2025

Website Launch

Launched comprehensive website to reach more population on CKSI's work and interventions on sickle cell disorder. Enhanced digital presence to provide better access to resources, information, and support services for the sickle cell community.
